Individually manufactured panels for balconies on an apartment building in Norway

Neunkirchen/Riga/Oslo, 10 June 2026. SCHÄFER Perforated Metal has supplied individually manufactured aluminium perforated sheets for an apartment building in Oslo, Norway. The client was the Latvian company RIPO fabrika SIA. The 2 mm thick, colour-coated perforated sheets, coated on both sides, were used as infill elements for balcony parapets and installed by the customer on an aluminium railing structure.

Balconies have a significant influence on the appearance of modern residential buildings while also meeting key functional requirements. Railings and parapets must provide safety, withstand weathering over the long term and integrate harmoniously into the architectural design. Perforated sheets are particularly suitable for this purpose, as they combine stability, privacy screening and design versatility. Depending on the hole pattern, material and coating, transparent, semi-transparent or more strongly screening solutions can be realised that meet both technical and aesthetic requirements.

Function meets architecture

In total, the scope of supply for the project in Oslo comprised 170 panels with a total area of 163 square metres. The components were used on 22 balconies. 

For the balcony parapets, aluminium perforated sheets were manufactured in the EN AW 1050 R10T15 design. They were then subsequently powder-coated on both sides by SCHÄFER Perforated Metal and delivered to the customer in the different colours RAL 6013 and RAL 1011. The panels combine functional requirements such as safety, privacy screening and weather resistance with a clear architectural design. The uniform perforation creates a high-quality façade appearance that gives the residential building a modern yet structured look.

Always focused on customer requirements

The focus of the project was the precise implementation of the customer’s specifications. The perforated sheets had to be precisely matched to the aluminium railing structure, manufactured true to size and prepared for further installation. SCHÄFER Perforated Metal supported RIPO fabrika SIA from technical coordination and panel drawings through to manufacturing, powder coating and delivery.
